Do I need reservations?

Yes, please call (252) 473-4247 to make reservations. Walk-ins are always welcome but you might have to wait for an opening.

Where are you located?

We fly out of Dare County Regional Airport in Manteo. We are located just past the Roanoke Island Aquarium on Airport Road.

As you enter the airport parking lot, turn left towards the BIG TAN HANGAR with the “Barrier Island Aviation” sign.

What are your hours of operation?

Monday through Sunday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Tours outside of regular operating hours are available by appointment only.

What do I need to wear?

If you are flying in the Cessna, you can dress as normal.

If you are flying in the biplane on chilly days, dress warm as you will be seated in an open-air cockpit.

Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit. Children under 2 years old can sit on an adult’s lap, which allows for 4 passengers on the Cessna or 3 in the biplane. Small children must be accompanied by an adult.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, there is a weight limit in the Cessna’s and the Biplane.

In the Cessna 172(3 Passenger) the weight limit is 575lbs and in the Cessna 206 (5 Passenger) the weight limit is 1200lbs.

In the Biplane the weight limit is 400lbs (2 Passenger).

What if I’m prone to motion sickness?

Our best recommendation is to go in the biplane. It is unlikely that someone will develop motion sickness in the biplane since it is open air.

Which plane is the best for taking photos?

The biplane does not have windows that would obstruct the camera’s view, however you will most likely have parts of our beautiful biplane in your pictures. IF YOU ARE FLYING IN THE BIPLANE AND YOU WOULD LIKE TO BRING A CAMERA, YOU MUST BRING A STRAP.

In the Cessna, it is easy to get pictures that will not have anything obstructing your view.

What is your cancellation policy?

Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours notice of cancellation. If you cancel under 24 hours from your scheduled flight, you will not be refunded, and charged the full price. Customers will receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
